See wikipedia. A Wiki is a website that allows visitors to add, remove, edit and change content, typically without the need for registration. It also allows for linking among any number of pages. This ease of interaction and operation makes a wiki an effective tool for mass collaborative authoring.

Due to the collaborative nature of a Wiki, it has many stunning uses for education!! Currently there is a local project going on where a textbook for maths and science is being created collaboratively (See http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/FHSST_Physics ) or the SA curriculum at http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/South_African_Curriculum  For instance, how about getting your class to create a wiki on a specific topic that you are exploring in the classroom...
