I can't believe how this woman is going on, trying to let others carry

missed a few months because of our lousy british winters. When he came back
in the new year I gave him a retraining session and told him to do a simple
5 second delay, before trying to progress.

Sadly I think not. Before trying to even voice your opinion, know something about the topic in question, think about the pros and cons, then TRY to give an objective but factual opinion. Only being part of this wonderful sport for 3 years and started
jumping at EP having had the same malfunction at jump 8 and 9 during
my progression and safely getting to just under 200 now with no scar

Having now completed 25 years in sport parachuting, become qualified to
coach formation skydiving, take students for tandem skydives and to
instruct, train and dispatch students from aircraft I can say that in all of
that time, I never read such an obvious load of abject nonsense in a
newspaper about anything to do with skydiving.
