Gearbox probs - most probably the people who serviced your bike

Hi all
I havent posted here in quite a long time, i'm an owner of a bajaj
pulsar 180cc.
Im currently having so much trouble with the bike i've threatened to
throw a match in the tank.
I've had the unforseen pleasure of having my crank cease around last
year november/december. Which isn't my current problem.

Bill, obviously getting a license to ride is important and necessary but
hey, your choice: no license = no insurance; fines if you get stopped (quite
a few road blocks stopping bikes in Cape Town recently, I've been stopped
once); what happens if you (heaven forbid) kill someone and you're not
licensed?

Bill, I could not agree more - with each point of yours. I wish I could buy one. I've even checked out what it would incolve for me to get one in India and then get one here with that. It's all very well to have such a "1st world" licence testing, but... ffs.

Hi Bill,
It is not really that bad. My cost investment for my license was not that much. Yep, did the learners, did the course for the yard test, did the yard test and was through, all for under R500.
Time investment was not hectic and only took 1 day off work if I add the hours together.
Once it is done, you feel better about being out there anyway.

I have had a code EB for nearly 40 years must I really go and do a learners
again just to get a bike licence. More than half the morons on the road
don't have a licence for anything.

I agree that being a new bike driver on should know what one is doing.

But the cost is crazy:

I am quite happy with the tyres on the Avenger even with the excessive rain
mud e.t.c I must admit the gravel and oil on the roads has been quite fun.
But never a skid.

I've never had a problem with them, but they are known to be very hard and the back tyre wouldn't work well in an panic stop.

I must admit that this is a new one to me, my Avenger brakes like a mad
thing, with all the wet weather we have had in Gauteng over the last few
weeks not to mention all the grit and pot holes in the road. Are you using
the best balance between front an back brakes?

go to one driving lesson and practice based on the government docs that are
on line. Set out / paint out a practice area and that's all you can do...
practice.
both my husband and I passed first time, at different test centers, having
done the above.

I've also noticed that the tires aren't the greatest (especially in
the wet).
As soon as these finish I'd like some different tyres. Not happy with
the original equipment

Here are a few tips for getting through your license. I must admit I did not struggle with my test.
1. Complete a practical course on the test process at a reputable facility so you know exactly what the test is about and how to do it
2. Practice
3. There is no time limit to the test when you do it

Hi.
Failed on the first test... rolled back one cm. on the first pull off. Must admit the instructions were quite clear, "Roll back and you fail!" I was over confident, and pulled off without using the foot brake to make sure there was no roll back!

Next apointment in May and R200 down the drain.

It's about 10 months since I posted about the tire issue. I have
suspected that the tire was to hard because after all the skidding I
have done, the tire hardly shows any signs of fatigue. I even failed
my drivers license because my rear tire skidded during a test. I got a
second chance but was told that I were going to slow. I were allowed

Just by way of endorsement, I've got a 2008 Pulsar as well, had it
about a month, and it goes really well :-) Similar amount of Ks on the
clock... I'd reccomend it to anyone.
Mubeen, are you in a hurry to sell? I have a friend that might be
interested in a few months time, I don't know if that will be too long
